Day 01

AIRPORT / SIGIRIYA

Arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo. Lanka Classy Tours representative and guide will be waiting for you at the airport to welcome you and take you to Sigiriya, which is located in the heart of the Cultural Triangle. The journey from Colombo to Sigiriya will take approximately 4 hours, depending on the traffic. During the drive, you'll get a chance to see the lush greenery and stunning landscapes that Sri Lanka has to offer. You can take this opportunity to rest, relax, or simply admire the scenic beauty around you. Once you reach Sigiriya, you'll check into the Water Garden Sigiriya, a luxurious hotel nestled in the heart of the Sigiriya jungle. ANURADHAPURA / MIHINTALE / RITIGALA / SIGIRIYA

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a tour of this UNESCO World Heritage site, which is home to an impressive collection of ancient temples, palaces, and stupas. You'll get a chance to explore the ruins of the ancient city, which was once the center of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. You'll see the impressive Jetavanarama Stupa, the largest brick-built structure in the world, as well as the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, which is believed to be the oldest living tree in the world, dating back over 2,000 years. Next, you'll visit Mihintale, a sacred mountain peak that is considered to be the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. You'll climb the 1,840 steps to the top of the mountain, where you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. After exploring Mihintale, you'll visit Ritigala, an ancient forest monastery that dates back to the 1st century BC. The monastery was rediscovered in the 19th century and is now a popular destination for visitors to Sri Lanka. You'll get a chance to explore the ruins of the monastery, which includes ancient stone staircases, terraces, and reservoirs. After a full day of exploring, you'll return to the Water Garden Sigiriya for dinner and a relaxing evening at the hotel.

POLONNARUWA / SIGIRIYA

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a tour of the city, which is home to an impressive collection of ancient ruins and temples. You'll get a chance to explore the well-preserved ruins of the ancient city, which includes the Royal Palace, the Audience Hall, and the Gal Vihara, a series of rock-cut Buddha statues. You'll also get a chance to see the ancient irrigation systems that were used to transport water to the city, including the Parakrama Samudra, a massive man-made reservoir. After exploring Polonnaruwa, you'll return to the Water Garden Sigiriya for lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, you'll visit the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, another UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Sri Lanka's most iconic landmarks. You'll climb the steep stairs to the top of the fortress, which was built in the 5th century AD by King Kashyapa. At the top, you'll see the ruins of the ancient palace, as well as stunning views of the surrounding countryside. After descending the fortress, you'll return to the Water Garden Sigiriya for dinner and a relaxing evening at the hotel.

DAMBULLA / HIRIWADUNNA / MINNERIYA

After breakfast at the hotel, you'll take a hot air balloon ride over the beautiful landscape surrounding Dambulla. From high above, you'll be able to see the rolling hills, lush green forests, and serene lakes of the region, all bathed in the soft morning light. This is a unique and unforgettable way to experience the beauty of Sri Lanka's natural landscape. After the balloon ride, you'll visit the Hiriwadunna village, a traditional rural community that offers a glimpse into the daily life of the locals. You'll take a tour of the village, walking through the rice paddies, meeting the locals, and learning about their customs and traditions. In the afternoon, you'll head to the Minneriya National Park, a wildlife sanctuary that is home to a large population of wild elephants. You'll take a jeep safari through the park, getting a chance to see these magnificent animals up close, as well as other wildlife such as deer, monkeys, and a variety of bird species. After a full day of exploring, you'll return to the Water Garden Sigiriya for dinner and a relaxing evening at the hotel.

DAMBULLA / MATALE / KANDY

You'll leave Sigiriya and head towards Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. On the way, you'll stop at two important attractions - the Dambulla Cave Temple and a Spice Garden in Matale. The Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a complex of five cave temples that contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art in Sri Lanka. The caves are filled with stunning frescoes, statues, and murals that depict the life and teachings of the Buddha. After exploring the cave temples, you'll stop at a spice garden in Matale, where you can see and learn about the different spices that grow in Sri Lanka, such as cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves. You'll also get a chance to try some traditional Sri Lankan dishes made with these spices. After the spice garden visit, you'll continue to Kandy, a charming city nestled in the hills of central Sri Lanka. On arrival in Kandy, you'll check in to the Kings Pavilion, a luxurious boutique hotel that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. You'll have the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the amenities of the hotel or explore the city on your own. In the evening, you'll enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel and rest up for the next day's adventures.

KANDY / PERADENIYA

After breakfast will begin with a visit to the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, one of the most beautiful and well-maintained botanical gardens in Asia. Located on the banks of the Mahaweli River, the gardens are home to a stunning collection of tropical plants, including orchids, palms, and ferns. You'll take a leisurely walk through the gardens, enjoying the peaceful surroundings and the colorful array of flowers and plants. You'll also have a chance to see some of the garden's unique features, such as the giant Javan fig tree, which spans over 80 feet, and the stunning avenue of royal palms. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Temple of the Tooth, one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Sri Lanka. The temple is believed to house a tooth relic of the Buddha, which is enshrined in a golden casket inside the temple's inner sanctum. You'll take a guided tour of the temple complex, which includes a number of other buildings and shrines, as well as a museum that displays artifacts and relics related to the temple's history. You'll also witness a traditional puja ceremony, where offerings are made to the tooth relic. After a full day of exploring, you'll return to the Kings Pavilion for dinner and a relaxing evening at the hotel.

you'll leave the tea country behind and drive to Negombo, a coastal town located north of Colombo. En route, you'll visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a sanctuary for orphaned and injured elephants. At the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, you'll witness the elephants being fed and bathed in the nearby river, while learning about the conservation efforts being undertaken by the sanctuary. You'll also have a chance to interact with the elephants and take photographs with them. You'll bid farewell to Sri Lanka and take a flight from Colombo to the Maldives. Upon arrival in Male, the capital of the Maldives, you'll be met by a representative who will show you to a sea plane for your transfer to Constance Moofushi, a luxurious resort located on a private island in the Maldives. The sea plane transfer to the resort is an adventure in itself, as you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the azure Indian Ocean and the picturesque atolls of the Maldives. In the morning, you'll take a sea plane transfer from Constance Moofushi to Male airport, where you'll catch your international flight back home. Before you depart, you can enjoy a final breakfast at the resort, soaking up the last bit of tropical paradise before saying goodbye to the Maldives. You can also take some time to do some last-minute souvenir shopping, picking up some mementos of your unforgettable trip. Once you arrive at the airport, you'll check in for your flight and go through security and immigration.
